Overheat problem 2001 Honda Accord EX V6

Asked by: 23 views Coolant Question

My 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 was running great, overheated out of no where, all the lights on the dashboard came on and died on me. Smoke mainly coming out of radiator. Had it towed home, tow truck driver tried to start it, it was wanting to start but wouldn’t start. There was a crack in my radiator so I had a friend put a new one in.. still wants to start but won’t. There is no water in my oil, everything looks good under the hood, no apparent leaks anywhere. Any ideas what it could be & how much to fix it?

I think that you should take out your spark plugs and see if there is any coolant in the cylinders. There is a risk that the head gasket is blown and leaking into the cylinders. It doesn’t have to be mixed with the oil.
It could be another problem, but it’s worth trying because if it leaks, too much coolant in the cylinder can crack a rod if it gets hydro locked.

Another thing is to check the trouble codes and try to erase them to see if there is an permanent code stored
