Having a hard time starting VW Polo 1.4

Asked by: 12 views Engine Question

I have a VW Polo 1.4 that sometimes has a hard time starting after standing for 8+ hours. It also has started to run significant louder than usual. I have changed the spark plugs. Any suggestions for what could be wrong??

Check for any trouble codes in your car. Also, check for any exhaust leaks because of the increased sound.
An exhaust leak in front of the first O2 sensor can trick the sensor and make your car run lean or rich.
A faulty EGR can make the car louder and make it hard to start.
A faulty coolant temperature sensor can make it hard to start.
Camshaft/crankshaft position sensor can make it hard to start.

But this is guesses, and I really recommend you to check the trouble codes and check live parameters of the coolant sensors etc to make sure they are all okay.
