2002 BMW 318i (E46) hesitates and revs suddenly incerases

Asked by: 23 views Transmission question

I drive a 2002 BMW 318i (E46) AUTOMATIC and of late it most of the time suddenly “chocks” and seems to brake itself when doing that. When it does that, the revs suddenly shoot up to more than 4000 rpm (even if my speed is low) and I am forced to push the gear lever from D to N and back to D several times until the car flows normally again.

Could you please help me in identifying the problem.

It sounds like there is a problem with your throttle body, but the easiest way to figure out is to read the trouble code memory to see if there are any trouble codes.

But the symptoms points on the throttle body or accelerator pedal, due to the increase of revs up to 4000 rpm.
