Shifting Problems 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500

Asked by: 10 views Transmission question

2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 nbs smashes into 2nd gear when I go slow. Seems like it builds up pressure and then jumps forward. Sometimes jumps hard going into drive or reverse. I do have an intake on the truck. Not sure if it could be adding to much air and throwing everything off. What could be the problem? Thanks

I would start to check the trouble codes in both the transmission control unit and the engine control unit, it may give some good information about the problem.
If that’s okay, when is the transmission fluid replaced? If it was a long time ago you should try to replace it if there are no trouble codes.

If the fluid is new and there are no trouble codes stored, you have to do a deeper diagnostics to check all the values from the transmission and engine. I would let a good transmission repair technician take a look at it.

If the idle is high, it can hit the gears hard. High idle could be caused by intake leaks or the throttle body or a separate idle controller if fitted. Check for any intake leaks around the intake.
