Car Won’t start 2005 Pontiac Vibe

Asked by: 8 views Troubleshooting Question

I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. I went to the store and few weeks ago and when I came out my car would not start. My boyfriend came and tapped on the alternator and my car started. And this is what I have had to do just about every time I need to go somewhere. I have asked several people and they stated that tapping the alternator should not affect the car starting so I am so confused on what this could be.

Tapping the alternator should not have something to do with the starting no, are you sure that he didn’t show you the starter motor? Tapping a starter motor with a hammer can make the solenoid and coals to jump and will help to start the engine. If this is the case, you should replace the starter to get the problem away!

No it is definitely the alternator. I have showed several people a they have told me that is the alternator, and they have all told me the same thing you are saying that the alternator has nothing to do with starting the car that is why I am so confused.
